Visiting Salt Lake City and want to hike or run? This route is perfect if you’re staying in the heart of the city as there’s no driving involved to get there!
Location:
Salt Lake City, City Creek Park
This run assumes you are staying at a hotel in downtown Salt Lake City or visiting the convention center.
You could also drive or Uber to City Creek Park and park at a trail head near the capital on East Capital Blvd.
Map Directions:
The Strava map below starts at the Marriott downtown at City Creek, located across the street from the convention center at:
75 S West Temple, Salt Lake City, UT 84101 [link to Maps here]
The trails at City Creek Park begin here at the intersection of 2nd Street and North Canyon Road, if you’d rather start from another location.
Distance:
3 miles or more of your choosing from the convention center.
Park Details:
Dogs are allowed.
Within the City Creek Park, dogs must be on a leash, however, I was surprised to find that once you get to the trails, well behaved dogs can be off leash.
The desert terrain on the trails is rocky.
After The Run Recommendations:
At the end of the run, I ran directly to Eva’s Bakery Boulangerie located at 155 S Main St, Salt Lake City, UT 84101. (There is another Eva’s restaurant nearby, so it’s easy to get mixed up. Look for the place with the blue facade.)
I managed to finish my run as they unlocked the doors at 7:30 AM. I was accompanied by a crowd of at least 5 other early arrivers, one of which highly recommend the danish roll. They also serve sit-down meals.
