I’ve found the best regular banana bread, chocolate banana bread and gluten free banana bread recipes. And then I add fruit and chocolate chips depending on the season.

The below recipes bake for 1 hour.

1. Basic Banana Bread

I use this recipe from Simply Recipes, however I doctor it up:

I add chocolate chips, cranberries and blueberries. I also like to use half gluten-free flour.

While I swear by fresh fruit, you can also use frozen. Using frozen fruit may increase your baking time slightly.

2. Chocolate Banana Bread

Similarly as above, I use this recipe from Simply Recipes, but adding in gluten free flour, chocolate chips, and fruit of my choice.

3. Gluten Free Banana Bread

Honestly, using this recipe I tend to like the gluten free version the best! It works to also add fixings of your choosing.

Baking Tips

While craving banana bread while pregnant with my daughter (and cooking many loaves!) I’ve learned the following:

• Not all bread pans bake the same! I’ve baked multiple loaves all at once in the same oven, and some pans cook faster than others! Be aware you should only use the bake times as a guide until you’re familiar with how your pan slows or speeds up the cooking process. I’ve had a couple pans where I need to add an extra 15 min!
• Make muffins by baking for 25 min.
• I like to add sugar and butter to the top of my loaves to give a store-bought finish look.
• I cool mine upside down on a cutting board to impress an even shape.
• Don’t hesitate to freeze your brown bananas and grab them when needed for these recipes.
• Banana bread freezes well after baked!
